We’d like to wish Ashley a speedy recovery, as well as a huge congratulations for her incredible championship efforts!
The final stop of the WMA championship series stormed through Steel City Raceway in Delmont, Pennsylvania on Saturday, and despite suffering from a bout of bad luck in moto one, Ashley Fiolek collected enough points to clinch her second-straight title! With series rival Jessica Patterson out front early during the opening moto, Ashley looked strong and content as she motored her Honda Red Bull Racing CRF250R around in the second spot. Only needing a few points to wrap up the title, Fiolek rode somewhat on the cautious side to avoid any unnecessary risk. Despite her efforts to keep things safe, however, disaster struck as she went down hard on lap three. Dropping back to the seventh spot, Ashley had her work cut out for her during the final four laps, as she is rumored to have broken her collarbone during the incident. With nothing but the championship on her mind, however, Fiolek put in a courageous effort to pilot her factory Honda to the checkers. Though finishing the moto in an uncharacteristic seventh spot, Ashley still collected the critical points needed to lock up the title! With the number one plate now in her pocket for the second-straight time, Fiolek opted out of the final moto of the season to attend to her injury.
