Belgrade held their Red Bull King of the Rock Final recently proving basketball as the number 1 national sport in Serbia. In front of the full legendary court at Kalemegdan fortress with over 1.500 people the best 64, one on one, players from Serbia, Macedonia and Montenegro crossed paths and fought with every drop of sweat for the title and a place at the world final in Alcatraz.
The high temperature didn’t stop the players from giving it their all and showing the crowd that they were worthy of a big final and that they didn’t want to miss the moves from the best regional street basketball players.
Many unexpected turnovers, one of them being the fallout of the last year’s winner in the second round. “I was at Alcatraz last year and after seeing the way basketball is played over there I believe we have the right player representing us this year in the best way” said Domovic, last year’s winner. Many injuries have also marked the tournament, leaving some of the favorites without the chance to fight until the end.
But, after playing hard games there were only two competitors left giving it all they had for the win and the title. Nebojsa Boskovic at the end was the only man standing.
“I have a great motive to be maximally prepared for Alkatraz! I want to show people there how we play street basketball in Serbia. I promise to be well prepared for the tournament and that I will not disappoint,” said the winner Nebojsa Boskovic.
Besides a lot of people who enjoy watching great basketball, the tournament also attracted a number of high profile players from the national basketball team as well as professional basketball players.
