Carissa Moore just came up on her second straight women’s open title, taking top honors at the Vans/Hi-Tech/Lopez Surfbash over the weekend at Hookipa Beach Park, Maui. Carissa netted the highest two-wave score of the entire contest (17.4) in her Semifinal; her 9.0 single-wave score tied for highest of the event with longboard champ and Red Bull teammate Kai Lenny.

The Surfbash win earned Carissa a place in the trials heat of the Billabong Pro, the final stop of the Vans Triple Crown of Surfing, scheduled for a December 8th start. She’s already qualified for the 2010 ASP Women’s Championship Tour, which kicks off before she’s even finished with high school.

''I was planning on going to college, but I'm taking a year off and we’ll see how it goes,'' Moore said. ''I'm very stoked to have qualified for next year. I'll just try to have a good time and hopefully everything will fall into place.''
