Slovenia's Marko Grilc won a hard-earned victory on the final day of the Slopestyle finals in Davos, Switzerland on Saturday. His run included a double backflip, double cork 1080 and a 5-0 to backflip off the rail.
Despite being awarded 850 Swatch TTR Ranking points however, Marko was knocked off the top of the world rankings by defending champion Peetu Piiroinen of Finland.
Grilc was the best rider of the day, but an outstanding performance by Piiroinen in both formats (Halfpipe and Slopestyle) at the O’Neill Evolution saw him take the number one spot and resume course to become the first snowboarder ever to win two consecutive Swatch TTR titles.
Seppe Smits was among those who just missed out on a place on the podium, but the Belgian’s fourth place has seen him move up to fifth in the overall standings.
Meanwhile, Czech snowboard star Sarka Pancochova remains on top of the Swatch TTR world rankings despite only finishing fourth in the Roxy Chicken Jam, the 6Star event in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Austria.
