The nationally ranked Jenks Trojans celebrate their victory Red Bull Media House North America, Inc.

The heat was brutal and the competition was fierce as seven of Oklahoma’s premier High School football 7-on-7 teams took to the turf at Boone Pickens Stadium for the Red Bull Game Breakers Oklahoma qualifier.

The day consisted of a competitive battle between teams from across the state. After being undefeated throughout the tournament, the Jenks Trojans turned on the heat in a sudden death final game against a once-beaten Metro Christian Academy to claim victory. Both teams will represent Oklahoma in the Red Bull Game Breakers National Finals in Dallas at Southern Methodist University’s Gerald J. Ford Stadium.

Perennial powerhouse and nationally ranked Jenks went undefeated through several rounds of competition, powering past impressive teams Stillwater and Metro Christian Academy to find themselves in the championship game. After falling to Jenks earlier in the tournament, Metro Christian fought back to earn their place in the championship game.

Up 24-8 with minutes left on the clock, Metro Christian looked poised to pull off an unbelievable upset. But the Trojans would not go quietly. It came down to a sudden death showdown. Jenks’ quarterback connected with wide-receiver Trey Michalczewski in the final moments to defeat Metro Christian and claim bragging rights as the Oklahoma Red Bull Game Breakers champs.

“There’s really nothing like this tournament. It was tiring and hot, but all in all it was a really good day,” said tournament MVP Trey Michalczewski of Jenks. “It was team effort out here today. In Dallas we look to win and if we play like we usually do I think we’ll be good.”

Participating teams included Jenks, Metro Christian, Broken Arrow, Edmond North, Booker T Washington, Yukon and Stillwater. In a double-elimination tournament, each team brought their best game and left it all on the field.

“For us this was a great evaluation of our kids,” said Jenks Head Coach Allan Trimble. “We were able to get them under some live fire which really served a good purpose to get to see our depth and how our kids are doing.”
