Round number seven of the 2010 AMA Supercross series rolled through Indianapolis’ Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday night, and Honda Red Bull Racing’s Davi Millsaps turned in a solid fifth-place performance to keep himself well within the championship points hunt.
Millsaps entered the night show with the second quickest qualifying lap time from the day’s timed practice sessions, but had to battle through some early adversity to narrowly qualify out of his heat in the eighth spot.
When the gates dropped for Indy's main event, Millsaps rocketed down the start straight on his Red Bull-backed Honda to grab the holeshot. After leading the first couple laps and engaging in some tight battles with Kevin Windham and Ryan Villopoto up front, Davi eventually went down in a corner on lap 15, but quickly remounted to hold on for a fifth-place finish.
Davi retains his fourth-place spot in overall standings, staying within striking distance of Villopoto, Ryan Dungey and Josh HIll in the title chase.
Stay tuned, as the series heads down to Millsaps’ home state of Georgia for round number eight in Atlanta’s Georgia Dome next weekend!
