In a brief press release from Volkswagen, Mat Rebeaud is named among three rookie driver to make their debut run in the Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup race in New Jersey later this month. The race will be held at New Jersey Motorsports Park, a 14-turn, 2.225-mile road course with qualifying runs set for September 11th.
Rebeaud will be piloting a slightly modified 2.0 liter, 170 horsepower, four-cylinder Jetta TDI, which comes standard in the series. While Rebeaud's road racing experience is limited, his two-wheel accolades are among the best in the business. The 2006 FIM FMX World Champion and 2008 Red Bull X-Fighters Champion is looking to capitalize on his smooth style as he matches up against other series rookies: former MLS all star, Mike Ammann and journalist, Mike Guy.
