This past weekend, Charlotte’s top urban amateurs took to the hoops for the Southeast's final King of the Rock qualifier. The blazing hot day brought out the best in this heated one-on-one competition.

The semi finals pinned the second place winner from the Camp Lejune qualifier against the runner up of the Atlanta competition. In the end, Ajanaku Olushala, winner of the Atlanta qualifier in 2011, would reclaim the title and prepare for a comeback at The Rock. It is safe to say that Olushala’s confident attitude helped him secure the win. “I came focused and I wasn’t going to get beat. I don’t care if Kobe was here!

The 6’5” athlete is no stranger to Alcatraz. Returning for the second year in a row, Olushala plans to stay disciplined and focused. His little girl has just one word to describe her dad’s accomplishment: “Awesome!”
