Sarka Pancochova 1 Swen Carlin/Red Bull Photofiles

With Winter X Games 14 just around the corner, we asked snowboarding Slopestyle star Sarka Pancochova about her preparations for the comp – and a few other things…

What’s the best thing about Slopestyle?
I like to fly, that’s the thing, and you have a lot of airtime in Slopestyle. It feels so good when you just do a simple trick on a really big kicker and it feels like you’re airborne forever.

Do you have any new tricks ready for X Games?

It’s hard to say now – I need to see the course and then I can decide, but I definitely have some tricks to show.

Do you have any pre-event rituals or superstitions?
I just need my friends around me to stop me being too serious, and then I have fun.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve ever been given?
Don’t be a pussy – that’s all you need to know!

Who’s been your toughest opponent to date?
It’s Jamie Anderson, for sure, but it’s not like we’re fierce rivals. She’s my friend, even if I like to compete with her because I want to be better than her, and she wants to be better than me. That’s the thing – it’s a friendly rivalry.

Who’s the first person you’ll call if you win X Games gold?
If I win, I won’t have to call anyone – everyone’s gonna call me!

How many friends do you have on Facebook?
Four hundred and ninety-six, but I’m gonna cut it and keep just the friends…

See Sarka and friends at the Winter X Games in Aspen from January 28 to 31. Check out ESPN’s Action Sports site for more.
