Lindsey Vonn won Best Female Athlete and Best Olympic Female Athlete; Shaun White won Best Olympic Male Athlete and Best Male Actions Sports Athlete.

The 18th Annual ESPY Awards was held yesterday in Los Angeles from the NOKIA Theatre at L.A. Live, featuring Hollywood’s hottest celebrities and sports’ brightest stars. Just like The Emmy Awards or The Oscars, the ESPYs celebrates the achievements of athletes in categories like Best Male Athlete, Best Female Athlete, Team of the Year, and Best Breakthrough Athlete.

The one major difference between the ESPYs and other awards shows is the online voting aspect of each category. Fans determine the winners in all categories, except for the Arthur Ashe Courage Award, which was given to Ed Thomas' family. Ed Thomas was the coach of the Aplington-Parkersburg (Iowa) High School football team and was murdered by one of his former players.

Other winners include Drew Brees for Best Male Athlete, Landon Donovan’s goal during the World Cup for Best Moment, and Brett Favre for Best Play.
