You once said: "My strengths and weaknesses are the same: I've got the willingness and stupidity to try anything." So what really insane things have you done recently - besides FMX and rally driving?
Skydiving! An unbelievable experience.
Will you be, I quote, "stupid enough" to try the double backflip again at Slane Castle?
No, that was a one-off. I proved that it's possible, now it's up to the others to give it a go.
The huge risk of crashing was one of the reasons that led you to announce your retirement last year. So what prompted you to change your mind and carry on?
Competing in the Red Bull X-Fighters is just great fun. I go there without any great ambitions - I just want to have a good time.
Ireland is the first of two completely new Red Bull X-Fighters venues. What role do you expect the new influences to play?
The event will undoubtedly have a different flair compared with the bullfighting arenas. But I know the organizers and I know that they'll be staging an incomparable event at Slane Castle, too. And the Irish are famous for throwing good parties!
For the first time, an overall winner for the year will be crowned. It won't be easy for you to take the crown having missed one of the Red Bull X-Fighters events, will it?
No, but that's not really my goal. As I said, I'm just there to have a good time.
You're an FMX hero and a rally ace - is there anything else that you'd like to try out in life?
Yes, I'd like to know what it feels like to be World Rally Champion!
