GALENA, IL – February 19, 2009 – Moving on North after series stops in Indiana and Ohio this past month, the Red Bull Butter Cup series makes its third stop in the Midwest. Chestnut Mountain Resort, IL will be host to the series on Saturday, February 20th. Being the largest resort in the lower Midwest and the sole resort in Illinois, it has attracted a slew of local riders plus those traveling from Iowa, Wisconsin, and Minnesota to prove their flatland riding worth.
The Red Bull Butter Cup series and its custom built butter pads will be front and center of the Winter Carnival, the biggest weekend of the year for Chestnut Mountain. With a live DJ, a full service bar/restaurant deck overlooking the custom built course and fireworks at night, it’ll be an epic shred-session for riders and spectators alike. Event registration runs from 10am-12pm with the competition starting at 1pm. Bring your best tricks and party boots for a weekend filled with technical riding and good times.
The Red Bull Butter Cup series is all about how much style snowboarders can spread onto the custom-made features also known as "butter pads." Riders will jib, bonk, tap and slide across the pads, making sure to spread the tricks on smooth. Local riders will battle it out in a jam format for cash and prizes, where overall style and creativity will help the cream rise to the top.
