On October 24, 2010, ultra trail runner Karl Meltzer arrived in downtown St. Joseph, Missouri, to complete a 40-day, 2,000-mile trek along the Pony Express National Historic Trail, a feat no one had ever achieved before.
The project, called the Red Bull Human Express, began September 15, 2010 in Sacramento. Yes, you read that right. Do the math -- that’s somewhere around 50 miles a day, crossing the Rocky Mountains, deserts and the Great Plains -- all on foot.
CBS will relive Meltzer's journey in a broadcast this Sunday at 1:00 p.m. EST. Tune in and see what 99.99 percent of humans would never even attempt.
