Red Bull KTM’s Andrew Short is relieved to be on the road to recovery after taking a brutal spill early last week while spinning laps at the KTM test track. During the tail end of a long day of testing, Shorty went down hard and unfortunately suffered two fractured elbows and a fractured wrist in the process.

Always the optimist, Short feels fortunate to have walked away with only surgical screws in his elbows, splints to limit his movement, and a cast on his wrist. “The crash was pretty gnarly, so I’m very thankful that my injuries are as limited as they are,” Short told us.

Now facing eight weeks of recovery time, Shorty is no doubt bummed to be sidelined for the remainder of the 2011 AMA Pro Motocross Championship series, but is looking forward to getting back on the bike to prepare for the 2012 Supercross series.

“This is obviously not what I was hoping for with just three rounds left in the series, but I’m already looking forward to Supercross testing just as soon as I get the clearance from my doctor.”
