R.E.M. Greatest Hits
Not even a week after their disbandment, alternative rockers R.E.M. have announced the release of an upcoming greatest hits compilation entitled “Part Lies, Part Heart, Part Truth, Part Garbage: 1982 – 2011.”
The two-disc record, scheduled to drop November 15, will feature the group’s biggest hits over the past 19 years. Also, it will contain three previously unheard compositions including “A Month Of Saturdays,” “Hallelujah” and “We All Go Back To Where We Belong.” The greatest hits compilation will be the second effort released by R.E.M. this year as their last studio album “Collapse Into Me” came out earlier this March.
Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds
Noel Gallagher continues doing a terrific job of keeping his name in the media. This week, the front man of the new project that shares his namesake -- Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds -- unveiled the new video for the group’s third single “If I Had A Gun.”
Directed by Mike Bruce, the romantic clip shows Gallagher marrying a bride and a groom. But just before the singer pronounces the two as husband and wife, a cowboy interrupts the ceremony by riding up on a horse. The bride smiles, the cowboy hops off the saddle, and then both of them jump into a pool and embrace in an underwater kiss. The clip ends with Gallagher driving to the Last Chance Diner, which is where the video for the band’s first single “The Death Of You And Me” takes place.
Matthew Sweet: Modern Art
Indie pop-rock artist Matthew Sweet has just released his brand new album “Modern Art” and will be supporting the effort with a tour. The trek kicks off October 10 at the Watt Club in Athens and wraps up November 3 at Sellersville Theater in Sellersville, Pennsylvania.
As The Kooks cross the Atlantic to begin their North American tour, they’ve decided to bring The Postelles along for the ride. The New York indie rock collective will serve as the opening act for the first leg of The Kooks’ concert extravaganza. The trek begins on November 15 at the Trocadero in Philadelphia and concludes November 26 at the Vic Theatre in Chicago.

Finally, multi-platinum selling rock group Daughtry have revealed details about their upcoming third studio album “Break The Spell.” Produced by Howard Benson, the collection will be released November 21st. Two singles, “Renegade” and “Crawling Back To You” have been released to radio.
