Brendon Small describes “Galaktikon” as a “high stakes intergalactic extreme rock album.” What more could you ask for?

The nine-track solo debut, put together by Small, the creative mind behind “Home Movies” and “Metalocalypse” shows on Adult Swim, gives the listener six-string whiplash at every 90-mph turn it takes.

Small says it is “over-dramatic and character-driven music,” playing off the success of “Metalocalypse," the animated series in which a death-metal band are the world’s biggest celebrities.

“In a break-up, there’s a lot of stupid stuff to go through,” explains Small, “And every person thinks of themselves as a hero in their own story. So, why not write a rock opera where a character similar to Superman is going through a high-profile divorce?”

The result is track “Prophecy of the Lazer Witch,” featured above, which has our hero rushing to the city for some high-priced counseling.

“Galaktikon” drops this Sunday, along with the season four premiere of “Metalocalypse” at 12:15 a.m. on Adult Swim. Can’t wait? You can pre-order the album directly from the artist.
