These days, L.A. electronic music is everywhere, and artists like Flying Lotus -- who in addition to making his own music also runs his own label, raps under an alter ego and contributes to Adult Swim -- is not only a presence but a driver of pop culture
But when the artists who would come to become a big part of Fly Lo's Brainfeeder label were just getting started, the only way they could connect to each other was through... mySpace.

"That was the only way to hear each other's music," the Gaslamp Killer recalls in the latest episode of Red Bull Music Academy's very cool H∆SHTAG$ series. "And a lot of us met each other online before we met in person."
Dorian Concept puts it in perspective. "Just a bunch of people being at their parents' house writing over slower Internet connection than we have now," he says. "To the point where there are now thousands of people at festivals."
