How to Dress Well, who just dropped his second full-length album 'Total Loss' on Weird World, stopped by Red Bull Music Academy Radio to talk about his music and some of the songs and artists that have influenced him.
There are some surprises in his playlist, which you can stream below, including 'Candy Bling' by Mariah Carey and new age staple Robbie Basho's 'Leaf In The Wind.'
Before he became the poster boy of today's beat melancholia, How to Dress Well, a.k.a. Tom Krell, played in various hardcore and metal bands, dabbled in drone music and began experimenting with vocal layering.
His career was really put into motion in 2009 when he moved to Berlin and started to release music for free via his blog. Carving a distinct sound as How To Dress Well, Krell mixes lo-fi production sounds with classic R&B beats and vocals ranging from glossy to ghoulish.
