Kasey Kahne, one of the most popular drivers in NASCAR, will join the Red Bull Racing team in 2011.
Kasey Kahne's future was one of the hot-topic buttons this season after he signed a deal in April to drive the No. 5 car at Hendrick Motorsports in 2012. Team owner Rick Hendrick would ultimately find him a ride in 2011.
On Tuesday, all speculation ended when the Red Bull Racing Team announced that Kasey Kahne will be driving a Red Bull Racing Team Toyota in next season. Kasey is currently 17th in points heading into Michigan. He has 11 career wins, his last coming at the Sept. 6 Atlanta race in 2009.
It feels good to be able to finally put this to rest and focus my energy on finishing the season.
“This opportunity places me with an established, competitive team that has proven they can win races and make the Chase,” Kahne said. “I have great respect for Red Bull, so to have the opportunity to drive for Red Bull Racing Team in 2011 is a great fit for me, both personally and professionally. It feels good to be able to finally put this to rest and focus my energy on finishing the season strong for the 9 team and our sponsors.”
Originally from Enumclaw, Washington, Kasey, who is 30 years old, moved to North Carolina at 17 to pursue his racing career. Aside from racing, he likes basketball, grilling in his backyard and working on his sprint car team. He is also active in philanthropies, including the Kasey Kahne Foundation, which focuses on chronically ill and disadvantaged children.
