Fiona Apple

Don’t call it a return to Lilith Fair, but Fiona Apple and Norah Jones couldn’t sit back much longer while Florence + the Machine and Adele soak up all the female-fronted spotlight. Today, we’ve got Fiona’s first single off her upcoming album, and Norah Jones gets the remix treatment by TV on the Radio’s Dave Sitek. Plus the Rapture goes mini, Portugal. The Man takes it to the trailer park and White Fence is ready for summer.

Fiona Apple Releases First New Song in 7 Years

On June 19, Fiona Apple will release her new album “The Idler Wheel is wiser than the Driver of the Screw, and Whipping Cords will serve you more than Ropes will ever do.” The surprise would be if it wasn’t such a tongue-twister of a title. To complement the new album, Apple is trekking across the U.S. this summer, and now, we’ve got the studio version of the single “Every Single Night” that Apple first performed live in Austin.

Norah Jones Goes Dub, Remixed by Dave Sitek

If you weren’t able to make it out to Record Store Day last Saturday, you can wash away the regret with a free download (all you need is an e-mail account!) of Dave Sitek’s remixes of Norah Jones. The 7-inch record was one of the many offerings for Record Store Day, and both songs are culled from Jones’s new Danger Mouse-produced album, “Little Broken Hearts,” due May 1 (pre-order).

The Rapture Drop “How Deep Is Your Love?” Video

The Rapture’s first album in five years -- the fantastically fun “In The Grace of Your Love” -- has been around since last fall, but now we’ve got visuals to go along with the single “How Deep Is Your Love?” It features a mini-version of lead singer Luke Jenner dancing while some older ladies hit the church circuit and pick out fancy hats. Is this what the Rapture was doing during their hiatus? We can only hope.

White Fence Lets “Green Balloon” Fly

Tim Presley is the one-man force behind White Fence. We’ve covered his other band, the Strange Boys, previously in Media Candy. But we really fell in love with the 1960s flower-pop garage sound Presley stirs up on White Fence’s “Green Balloon,” which is due in 7-inch form on May 22. You can pre-order through Sex Beat Records.

Portugal. The Man Drops “All Your Light” Video

Earlier this month, the one and only RZA teamed up with indie-psych darlings Portugal. The Man to remix “All Your Light (Times Like These),” off of last year’s “In The Mountain In The Cloud.” Now, we’ve got a video for that track. No RZA cameos, but it does have plenty of demonic trailer park storylines. Cheers!
