Hood Internet Drop “The Mixtape Volume Six”
Continuing their long line of free releases, the mash-up duo Hood Internet dropped “The Mixtape Volume Six” on Tuesday. The whole thing plays out as an audio battle between the indie frontline -- think Phantogram, M83, Foster the People -- and hip-hop’s biggest names (Big Sean and Kanye West) and features a cameo by Ma$e. The Hood Internet just loaded your ghetto blaster with more ammunition for your next BBQ.
Passion Pit "Takes a Walk" and Hits the Road
It’s been a while since we heard from indie-synth-danceaholics Passion Pit, who relentlessly toured the world after their debut album “Manners." On July 24, the New England-based group will present their sophomore effort, “Gossamer,” to the masses. The first track we’re hearing off the new album is “Take A Walk,” which is pretty much on par with everything “Manners” was, minus that signature falsetto of pit-leader Michael Angelakos. Listen below.
CocoRosie Reunite With Touch And Go Records, New 7” This Summer
Missing that distinct delivery associated with Passion Pit? No worries. CocoRosie is returning this summer with a 7-inch on Touch And Go Records; it's the long-standing label's first release since going on hiatus in 2009. Produced by TV On The Radio’s Dave Sitek, “We Are on Fire” b/w “Tearz for Animals” is due June 5. Stream the a-side below.
Teen Daze Want To Know “What You Feel”
The debut from Vancouver-based producer Teen Daze will finally arrive on May 22. To usher in the release, the Canadian chill-wave wunderkind is sharing the reverb-soaked “What You Feel.” It’s a modern day disco revolution, people, and it’s streaming below.
Jon Hamm & Reggie Watts Make You Scratch Your Head
Looking to stack your white-bread daily routine with a bit of “what the fuck?” We’ve got just the thing for you! This summer, IFC and comedian Scott Aukerman are teaming up for a late-night talk show called “Comedy Bang! Bang!” And since no one really wants to lure Paul Shaffer from his nightly gig and the Roots are already tied up, IFC is going for the one-man show known as Reggie Watts.
To build a little hype, the Internet has been treated to Watts and Mad Men star Jon Hamm doing a strange musical homage to ‘70s sitcom classic “Taxi.” It’s a bit out there, it’s sort of frustrating, and it’s just the thing you need to help wrap up your workday.
