With the holiday season now upon us, a number of racers in the motocross world are giving back to their communities, and Red Bull athletes Andrew Short and Ashley Fiolek are leading the charge to help thousands of children across North America.

Short, Fiolek and Ben Townley have joined forces with several other top names in the industry to participate in the 2010 MX for Children 'Giving Thanks' Charity Auction.

For this year’s auction, several riders have personally signed and donated a race helmet from their archive in honor of the 2010 theme, "Helmets for Hydro.” Hydrocephalus, also known as “water on the brain”, is the leading cause for brain surgery in children due to a build up of fluid inside the skull. All funds from this year’s auction will directly benefit Hydrocephalous research at several children’s hospitals in the U.S. and Canada.

“This is a great cause and I’m really proud to be a part of it,” said Short (pictured above with Townley). “It makes it even better that we can give these children a great gift around the holidays, as well.”

For more information, check out www.mxforchildren.org, and be sure to head on over to eBay to bid now on your favorite Red Bull athlete’s lid (auction ends November 25th).
