Red Bull Manny Mania made a stop in Rockaway, New York on June 23, where the qualifying event was part of the sixth annual Rock Stock and Barrels event on Rockaway Beach. The event was founded with the intent to be the unofficial start to summer, which goes hand-in-hand with skateboarding. Close to 500 people were on site to watch the two-wheel competition go down.
Judges Luis Tolentino, Tombo from 5Boro and Billy Rohan had a tough job, as each competitor was giving it their all. Matt Nesseman made it through all three rounds to come out on top of the finals over last year’s winner of the NYC qualifier, Bill Pierce. Matt’s tricks included a kickflip nose manny 360 shuvit, switch front heel Manny and a late flip Manny.
