Cassidy’s Past May Lead To A Future Behind Bars

Cassidy earned a rep in Philadelphia for murdering lyrics and bodying other rappers. Unfortunately, life may be imitating art too often for the rapper, whose given name is Barry Reese.

He was reportedly arrested in New Jersey Saturday for a probation violation and is a suspect in an unsolved murder, according to reports. He was apprehended on a warrant by Hackensack, New Jersey police.

Several websites and other news sources have reported that Cassidy is a suspect in one murder and two other attempted murders in the City of Brotherly love. Unfortunately for Cassidy, this is not his first time dealing with a murder rap. He was convicted of involuntary manslaughter stemming from a 2006 shooting case. It’s sad to see another rapper with promise potentially get derailed by lethal mistakes.

New Boyz Return With “Care”

The New Boyz, who broke through in 2009, were among those at the forefront of the jerkin’ movement. Though its “You’re A Jerk” single went platinum, Ben J and Legacy were about more than the style they helped popularize. The pair’s more R&Bish “Tie Me Down” single with Ray J also earned platinum status, setting the stage for the duo’s second album, “Too Cool To Care,” which was released May 17.

The 16-cut collection is chock full of noteworthy collaborations, including YG on “Crush On You,” Tyga on “Active Kings,” Big Sean on “I Don’t Care,” Chris Brown on “Better With The Lights Off” and R&B icon Charlie Wilson on “Beautiful Dancer.” Of course hit single “Backseat” also features The Cataracs & Dev. With such high profile friends, no wonder the New Boyz feels it’s “Too Cool To Care.”
