As the sky fell dark on Austin last night, nearly 8,000 music lovers packed the lot at 8th and Trinity (and thousands more danced in adjacent lots, rooftops, streets and parking garages) for a night of hip hop supremacy that won’t soon be forgotten. Ten renowned acts, including Z-Trip, Nas, The Cannabinoids feat. Erykah Badu, Questlove, The Crystal Method, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Datsik, Dan the Automator, DJ Hedspin, and Big Once, took turns getting the crowd jumping and, for one night only, transformed the “Live Music Capital of the World” into the “Hip Hop Capital of the World.”

After hours of party-rockin’ music, headliner Z-Trip brought surprise guest, Nas, to join him on stage. The duo performed a medley of tunes that left the crowd jamming and chanting for more.

“Tonight the fans got to see something really different and special with a diverse group of artists coming together for this one show,” said headliner Z-Trip after exiting the stage with surprise guest Nas. “I love playing for this Austin crowd because you can really feel their energy and excitement up there.”

While this event was a celebration of the Red Bull Thre3Sytle culture and not officially part of the 2012 competition, Red Bull Thre3Style is an innovative concept that gives highly skilled DJs a global platform to showcase their skills, battle and gain notoriety by rockin’ the dance floor. Each act performs to win the crowd’s favor and each set MUST contain at least three different musical styles. For more information and to catch a tour stop near you, visit
