In his New York Red Bulls debut, Dwayne De Rosario earned an assist, but Houston's Cam Weaver scored an equalizer to spoil the party as Houston survived a wild finish for a 1-1 draw at Red Bull Arena on Saturday.
after being acquired on Friday, De Rosario immediately gave the Red Bulls offense some much needed life as he came off the bench following halftime.
In the 47th minute, De Rosario sent a ball from the middle of the field to Dane Richards along the left side of the Dynamo box, Richards freed himself with a cutback and fired past goalkeeper Tally Hall for his first goal of the season. However, Houston would respond with a goal of their own just three minutes later.
The Red Bulls came close to pulling off a winning goal three more times in the game’s last minutes. In the 87th minute, De Rosario put a Lindpere cross just wide of goal and in the 90th, a header from Thierry Henry put pressure on the Houston keeper as well. Roy Miller also had a crack at breaking the tie with a header in stoppage time that sailed over the bar.
