Simon Dumont fires out some the highest airs ever seen on the freeskiing halfpipe scene, and he maintains that ultra-high level of intensity every time he’s on skis – come to think of it, he doesn’t really slow down when he’s off of them, either. He’s picked up countless awards and set records throughout his career, competing as much with himself as he does with his fellow athletes.
He’s enjoyed the spoils of being at the top of his game, including the theater room he installed in his house to serve his love of movies. Find out what film is tops on his list, as well as many of his other favorite things, in his answers below…
Favorite movie:
Wedding Crashers would be up there for comedies. It’s one of the funniest movies, very clever. A lot of good one-liners there.
Favorite book:
I wouldn’t say favorite book, but one that was informative or at least gives you a new perspective is called Ishmael. I thought the guy had pretty good ideas. It was just an eye-opening book, check it out.
I’ve always wanted to own either a monkey or a lion.
Favorite TV show:
It’s not bad to just watch Jack Bauer pistol-whip some people now and again. Californication is pretty good, too.
Favorite magazine:
Freeskier magazine, since that’s what I do. Smart Money is a good one, too.
Favorite song or artist:
I don’t know about one in particular, but Biggie and Tupac are still my two favorite people to listen to. Biggie radio on Pandora!
Favorite animal:
I’ve always wanted to own either a monkey or a lion or something like that. A tiger, that’d be pretty bad-ass. Tyson has one.
Favorite color:
I would say red.

Favorite holiday:
I’m not really into holidays all that much. I’ll say Halloween because girls have an excuse to dress really scandalous.
Favorite tech gadget:
My iPhone.
Favorite thing to eat:
Steak and lobster would be up there. One of my favorite places to eat is Nobu in Aspen.
Favorite thing to wear:
A suit, because there’s probably something cool going on if you’re wearing a suit to it.
Favorite place to be:
Wherever my friends and family are.
Favorite way to indulge or treat/reward yourself:
I guess a vacation. I don’t really do the norm vacations, I don’t just chill on the beach. I went to Egypt last year, went to Brazil for a little bit – I just like to explore. I think next on the list is Africa.

Favorite times to get up/go to bed:
Whenever I want.
Favorite thing to spend money on:
Investments, like real estate. I’ve got a 14-lot subdivision in Maine, three other properties there, I just opened a restaurant in Florida, and I have a house here in Colorado and a house in Florida.
Favorite thing to do in your free time:
I’m really into competing, so I guess if I have any free time I’ll go play basketball or golf or volleyball – whatever I can get my hands on to try to win at.
Favorite Red Bull product (regular, sugarfree, energy shot, cola):
I would say straight-up OG regular.
Favorite time for a Red Bull:
When I need a little pick-me-up, maybe in the afternoon or after a morning session. During contests, because I get so worn out going from event to event.
Favorite thing about your sport:
Just how free and unregimented it is, and the lifestyle itself is really appealing. There are no coaches, it’s just a bunch of fun.
Favorite sport other than your own:
I like them all – well, I don’t know about all of them, there are some that are pretty wack out there. I think the biggest thing for me is that I like to watch an individual dominate within their sport. That’s what’s most appealing to me. Like Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods, or even Shaun White or Jamie Bestwick. Just watching one person dominate for so long is really intriguing to me.
Favorite celebrity or sports star:
Michael Jordan’s up there, for sure. Keira Knightley and Natalie Portman, just because they’re super hot.
Favorite people to ski with:
Everybody I ski with. Who goes on the hill and is in a bad mood? If you’re going skiing, you’re going to have fun, so pretty much everybody I ski with; my whole crew for sure.
Favorite thing in your house:
Probably my movie theater room; I like watching movies. It has a projector and two tiers of theater seating.
Favorite thing about your life:
That people want to pay me to live it; that’s pretty crazy. I feel very blessed; I’ve worked my butt off so I’ve expected something to come out of it, but I’m blessed that it’s actually a possibility.
