"The Art of FLIGHT," the most ambitious action-sports film ever produced, is premiering in 3D next month, though you'll have to find your way to the San Sebastian Film Festival in Spain to see it.
The epic snowboarding movie, which follows Red Bull ambassador Travis Rice and his friends as they scour the globe from Alaska to Argentina for untouched peaks, will premiere at the Spanish festival on September 28. It is part of a 3D double feature -- dubbed "Big Friday" by festival organizers -- with "Storm Surfers 3D," which follows huge-wave addicts Ross Clarke-Jones and Tom Carroll as they tackle the most-treacherous breaks in Australia.
Unlike "Storm Surfers 3D," "The Art of FLIGHT" wasn't originally shot in 3D and will be converted. "The conversions are getting so so intensely amazing that we've had an opportunity to work with a partner that's making it possible for us to bring this film in 3D to the mainstream," said Curt Morgan, the director of The Art of FLIGHT, at a panel last year.
"It's truly amazing to see the conversion process," he added.
There's no word about an exact release date for "The Art of FLIGHT 3D," but it is expected to have a theatrical release in the United States at the end of the year.
