Tim Johnson in Rhode Island Chris Milliman/Red Bull Photofiles

Three-time U.S. National Elite Class (and twice in the under-23 class) Cyclocross Champion Tim Johnson is one tough cookie; his performances in the gruelling sport of cyclocross racing have set the benchmark for American competitors, and he's still getting better. He pushes hard whether he's on his cross bike or his road bike, and sometimes trades the pedals for a throttle to put some time in on his motocross bike.

So now you know he's into dirt bikes, but what else is going on with this guy? Tim took a quick break from his training schedule (cross season is currently in full swing) to fill out our latest edition of Friday Favorites; read on to see what else he's into...

Favorite movie:
The simple answer is Rad, of course. I've seen it nearly every year I've been alive it feels like. Nothing like hearing "you over-rotated, dude" after crashing in a cross race...

Favorite book:
Newish: The Corrections. All-time: Where the Red Fern Grows.

Favorite TV show:
Weeds and Mad Men are good stand-ins for Entourage. When you're on the road, smashing through a season or two isn't that hard.

Gimme cereal. Any time, any day.

Favorite magazine:
I could look through pretty much anything if I'm out of coverage or the phone is dead. Gimme a New Yorker to read and Embrocation for comfort.

Favorite song or artist:
Beastie Boys - they were there for me growing up and they're still there now.

Favorite animal:
Definitely our chocolate Lab Vitesse. Like the name says (in French), she's fast, but also ready to chill with me on the couch after a tough training session.

Favorite color:
It's gotta be brown. Everything we own is brown so the dog doesn't seem like it follows us everywhere we go.

Favorite holiday:
Labor Day; hitting September means that cross season is right around the corner. Plus, being a New Englander, it's when the nights chill and the days are still summery. Best season of the year.

Favorite tech gadget:
iPhone, iPhone, iPhone. It could be said I like it too much.

Favorite thing to eat:
Gimme cereal. Any time, any day.

Favorite thing to wear:
If I can wake up and not have to travel anywhere for a while, give me my Red Bull hoodie and shorts.

Favorite place to be:
I'm happiest at home for sure, but too much time in any one place gets me jittery. I love to travel.

Favorite way to indulge or treat/reward yourself:
I made the (great) mistake of getting a dirt bike a few years back. My season has been going great, so I'm afraid I'll have to get a new one…

Favorite times to get up/go to bed:
When I have the chance to sleep, I'm in heaven. Training, traveling and racing takes its toll. Down at 10:30 or 11:00 and up at 7:00...bing!

Favorite thing to spend money on:
Toys... I really NEED that new dirt bike, right? I'm still waiting to get some rims on my truck, though. The stock ones just aren't cutting it.

Favorite thing to do in your free time:
We are renovating our house and building out a huge barn. It's a lot of work and there are always pieces of the puzzle to place somewhere. It's fun, but I'm looking forward to the finished product.

Favorite Red Bull product (regular, sugarfree, energy shot, cola):
I'm up for a regular anytime a little uppity-up is needed. And since that first sip of cola, I'm a believer. All Natural is the way to go.

Favorite time for a Red Bull:
1/2 can before race time. We usually race early afternoons, so it's a perfect time.

Too much time in any one place gets me jittery. I love to travel.

Favorite thing about your sport:
The people make it. Whether they’re out racing - and having a blast - or cheering for us afterwards, the atmosphere is booking with passion and excitement.

Favorite sport other than your own:
Rally racing and baseball - I've seen Loeb come in and destroy his competition since the beginning, and I'm a lifelong Red Sox fan. Fenway Park is a monument.

Favorite celebrity or sports star:
Tony Hawk. I respect what he did 20 years ago and I'm continually impressed with how he runs his business and his life. I admire him in many ways.

Favorite people to ride with:
My wife Lyne and I have shared many rides together in lots of different locales. I don't get a chance to do it very often, but my local club has rides a few times each week. Usually a ride with them will reset any axis issues. They straighten me right out.

Favorite thing in your house or apartment:
My new barn. It's big enough to handle all my toys - I have a feeling it will take a while before I find out just how many things I can do in there.

Favorite thing about your life:
I'm making a living doing something that I'd probably be doing anyway. I love what I do and bikes are a huge part of my life.
