TV on the Radio will headline the 2012 US Open of Surfing facebook.com/tvontheradio

One peek at the video of last year's memorable performance by MGMT on the concert stage at the US Open of Surfing, and it's pretty obvious that the beachside shows at the annual surf contest in Huntington Beach, California, are a glorious time. The shows are free and, according to Nike, attract hundreds of thousands of fans.

This year's lineup looks to be just as rad, with Best Coast, Grouplove and TV on the Radio headlining three afternoon sets (August 1-3) and indie darlings Walk the Moon, White Arrows, Hindu Pirates and Toro Y Moi playing support. Here's the lineup for the three days:

Wednesday, August 1

4:30 - 6:30 Best Coast, preceded by Walk the Moon

Thursday, August 2

4:30 - 6:30 Grouplove preceded by White Arrows and Hindu Pirates

Friday, August 3

4:30 - 6:30 TV on the Radio preceded by Toro Y Moi

"For years, my brother and I have been going to the US Open to watch the competition, so to perform and hang with the best surfers in the world is such an honor for me," said Grouplove's Andrew Wessen.

The concerts at the Open -- the event runs from July 28-August 5 -- will also be livestreamed on the US Open of Surfing website, which is obviously good (you get to see and hear the bands) and not so good (you get to see what a glorious time you're missing).
