The 2013 Burton US Open of Snowboarding is here. The snowboarding championships are being held in Vail, Colorado. All the big names are there, from slopestyle genius Mark McMorris to halfpipe wizards Shaun White and Louie Vito. The semi-finals start today, February 27. And you can watch it go down on Red Bull TV.
The men's and women's slopestyle action starts live from Vail at 7:45 a.m. PT / 10:45 a.m. ET. McMorris will be looking to back his gold medal at X Games Aspen against the likes of 2012 Burton European Open slopestyle winner Aleksander Oestreng, the 2012 US Open slopestyle champ Sebastien Toutant, and World Snowboard Tour overall title holder Stale Sandbech.
The slopestyle contest will be followed Thursday by the semi-finals for the men's and women's halfpipe contest. The US Open halfpipe rider list is stacked with nine Olympians, including White, Vito, Greg Bretz, Kazuhiro Kokubo, Kelly Clark, Elena Hight, Hannah Teter, and Torah Bright. Also competing are World Snowboarding Championships gold medalist Iouri Podladtchikov, Queralt Castellet and 14-year-old halfpipe phenom (and 2013 X Games silver medalist) Ayumu Hirano.
For all female riders, the current Snowboarding Championships season ends right at the US Open, when the Women's World Snowboard Tour slopestyle, halfpipe and overall champion will be crowned.
The men's and women's slopestyle finals will be livestreamed on the Burton US Open site Friday, March 1, from 8:35 a.m. - 1:45 p.m. PT (11:35 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. ET).
