"The Rock has become a tourist attraction?" That's what Sean Connery's character, a haggard old ex-con named John Mason, says incredulously in the movie "The Rock" when he's recruited to help Nicolas Cage's character, an FBI agent, navigate the tunnels underneath the prison.
I wonder what Mason would think about Red Bull King of the Rock, when the one-time maximum-security prison and current tourist attraction holds court for the best one-on-one basketball players in the world. It's the most exclusive ticket in basketball. Unless you can make it rain threes, you have no business on Alcatraz during Red Bull King of the Rock.
But event partner Li-Ning is giving away a trip for two to the finals in its Escape to Alcatraz contest. You don't need to dunk, make up-and-unders or even dribble with both hands. You just have to fill out a simple form on the Li-Ning website and you're entered.
This is what the winner gets:
1. Two guest passes for the Red Bull King of the Rock final tournament on Alcatraz Island on September 22, 2012;
2. Round trip coach airfare for two persons from the winner's home area airport to San Francisco International Airport; ground transportation to and from the hotel;
3. Two night’s hotel accommodations (double occupancy) in the San Francisco area; and
4. $100 Cash Prize as a food and beverage allowance.
Entries will be accepted until August 30, 2012 at 12:00 a.m. CST. For more information and official contest rules, go to the Li-Ning contest page.
