New Brunswick, New Jersey is celebrated by indie and punk music lovers around the world – not only for famous exports like The Gaslight Anthem, Thursday and The Bouncing Souls, but for the vibrant underground scene that has thrived there for over 25 years. As a tribute to the legendary New Brunswick music scene, Red Bull presents Noise Complaint. Bands can apply from October 1 through the 15th to play at Court Tavern in New Brunswick on November 13th. Four will be chosen to play, with one final winner moving on to open for Thursday at Starland Ballroom on December 30th.
Like many cities, New Brunswick has changed considerably over the last quarter century. It’s safer. It’s cleaner. And along the way, that progress killed almost all of the small, gritty rock clubs that once lay scattered across the city. There were plenty of them; venues like The Melody Bar, The Down Under, the Bowl-o-Drome and The Roxy. Today, only one - The Court Tavern - remains.
A panel including members of the world-famous band Thursday will select one winner from among the four semi-finalists at the Court Tavern show for a very different culminating experience - the chance to open for Thursday at the first stop of the Full Collapse 10 year anniversary tour. Highly influential and revered the world-over for their cathartic and distinctive post-punk music, Thursday cut their teeth in New Brunswick, New Jersey before storming the world stage.
Apply from October 1 - October 15.
