About this Image: More than 1,275 art aficionados came to Public Works, located in San Francisco's Mission District, to attend Red Bull Curates: The Canvas Cooler Project. The project challenged 20 handpicked artists to transform a blank canvas-wrapped Red Bull cooler into an inspired work of art. The artists were paired with venue owners from some of the hottest local bars, lounges and restaurants in the city, and the custom pieces will now live in their chosen venues. The artists’ work was voted on by a luminary panel of judges, including Elisa Stephens (President, Academy of Art University), Dorka Keehn (Commissioner, City of San Francisco Arts Commission), and Maria Jenson (Director, ArtPadSF), as well as the attending guests who voted via Twitter using custom hashtags for the People’s Choice winner. The judges chose artist Akira Beard as their winner, and the People’s Choice winner was Slvstr. Both artists have won an opportunity to show and sell their artwork at SCOPE Miami during Art Basel in December 2013.
