Alexis 'Lexi' Thompson was born in 1995 and began her fledgling career with a win at the tender age of just seven, achieving her first hole-in-one at the same age. In 2007, Alexis became the youngest-ever qualifier for the US Women's Open. She also qualified in 2008 and again in 2009, when she made the cut for the first time.
Lexi was named Golfweek's 2009 Women's Amateur Player of the Year and the 2009 Junior Girls Player of the year. She has represented her country in the Junior Ryder Cup and Junior Solheim Cup, and was the youngest winner ever of the Junior PGA Championship in 2009.
Having won the 2010 Curtis Cup – the ladies amateur team championship played against Great Britain & Ireland – with the USA, Alexis turned pro in June 2010, just in time for her first Major, the US Women's Open at Oakmont, California. Lexi’s signature power, poise and presence – along with her emerging personality off the course – has potentially positioned her as the next great talent on the LPGA tour.
In addition to continuing her school studies at Westchester in Coral Springs, Florida, Alexis enjoys dancing, among other hobbies. She also enjoys the odd round of golf at home with her two brothers, Nicholas and Curtis, who are both notable golfers on the men's scene.
