Rolling Stone calls him “the coolest kid in America,” while Outside magazine flat-out declares, “It’s Shaun White’s world.” A double threat with X Games medals in snowboarding and skateboarding, as well as shiny gold hardware from the 2006 Winter Olympics, Shaun possesses insane skills and instantly recognizable looks. That serendipitous combination has made the freckled-face redhead a worldwide superstar. Yet with an unfailing sense of humor—about the trappings of fame (and everything else)—this three-time ESPY winner manages to be a badass without being, well, an ass.  

Although barely into his 20s, Shaun has accumulated a string of firsts: first snowboarder to win X Games gold in both pipe and slopestyle, first snowboarder to sweep the U.S. Grand Prix series, first athlete to compete in both the Summer and Winter X Games in different sports. Oh, and he’s an Olympic gold medalist.

While he continues a jam-packed competition schedule, the athlete known for his unmistakable shock of red hair is also exploring his creative side in film, video games, and apparel and outerwear lines. He shows no sign of letting up on the competition, taking on the world in contests leading up to the 2010 Olympic Games. With the possible addition of skateboarding to the 2012 summer Olympics, it appears that Shaun could again make history by competing in both the Winter and Summer Olympic Games.
