Magic Carpet Ride achieved man’s eternal dream of human flight and first place prize on Saturday, November 3 when their craft soared – at least for a few seconds – during Red Bull Flugtag Miami. The teams, hailing from all over the state – and one team even coming from as far as South Carolina -- had four flight crew members and one pilot who dared to launch from the “flight deck” 30 feet above Biscayne Bay. They took inspiration from flamingos, bacon, the upcoming election, Mars, magic carpets, mustaches and more judged on creativity, showmanship and flight distance.
