BOHAN RIDES TO THREE-PEAT IN BMX FREESTYLE DIRT
Corey Bohan rode to an unprecedented third-straight X Games Gold Medal in the BMX Freestyle Dirt competition at X Games 12 on Thursday at the STAPLES Center.
The Australian native came into this year’s competition as the only rider to win back-to-back BMX Freestyle Dirt gold medals. Following a winning run that included a no-handed, one-footer to tail whip, a one-footed table 360 and a bar-spin tail whip, he let the crowd know that he has no intention of letting up.
"The three-peat is fantastic, and what I need to do now is keep winning," said Bohan. "The no-hand one-foot -- to be able to put it into a run and hold it throughout feels unbelievable."
SANDRO DIAS GRABS FIRST SKATEBOARD VERT GOLD
On Thursday at The STAPLES Center, Sandro Dias’ first run was good enough for Gold, as the Brazilian took home the X Games title in the men's skateboard vert showdown. Bob Burnquist nabbed silver and Bucky Lasek took home the bronze.
The victory was the first X Games Skateboard Vert Gold for Dias, who won the bronze at X Games 11 and has won Vert titles multiple times at Latin X Games and Asian X Games competitions.
"I thought my score was too high," quipped Dias, when asked if he was surprised his first run was enough for the victory. "But I love the judges."
The winning run included a backside 540 McTwist to tail, a gnar jar 540, heel flip to frontside slider and ollie to fakie.
SHECKLER TAKES SILVER IN STACKED SKATEBOARD STREET COMPETITION
Ryan Sheckler, who in 2003 was the youngest athlete to ever win X Games Gold (Skateboard Park), scored his first Skateboard Street medal after finishing fourth last year. The 16-year-old veteran of three X Games was complimentary of both the course and his fellow skaters after the competition.“The stairs were brutal, but so much fun. PASTRANA LANDS FIRST-EVER DOUBLE BACKFLIP AT X GAMES TO SNAG GOLD IN MOTO X BEST TRICK
Travis Pastrana made jaws drop on Friday night, when he landed the first-ever X Games Moto X double backflip. The STAPLES Center crowd erupted as the multi-sport X Games superstar fluidly flipped his body and bike backwards two full times.“There is not much in life that compares to this feeling I have now. I’m on cloud nine,” said Pastrana. “I was pretty sure I wasn’t going to make it, but was confident enough to get close. When I landed, I was riding away and said ‘Wow, I can’t believe that actually worked.’”
REBEAUD TAKES SILVER IN MOTO X BEST TRICK
Mat Rebeaud wowed the STAPLES Center crowd by landing a knack knack under flip twice (once one-handed), earning him the silver medal behind Travis Pastrana's double backflip, a position he was happy to take.“I’m just happy to finish number two behind him,” said Rebeaud. “Two years ago he didn’t know me, and I only knew him from TV and a picture in my room. So, now, to be competing with him in the X Games – it’s so cool. If I can’t win, it doesn’t matter.”

A double flair may sound simple, but X Games 12 Men’s BMX Freestyle Vert Best Trick gold medal-winner Kevin Robinson can assure everybody that its not.Robinson’s double flair (a backflip into a cork screw) earned him the X Games gold medal that has eluded him until tonight. Fittingly the three-time BMX Freestyle Vert bronze medalist earned gold by landing a trick he’s been chasing for years.
“This was three years in the making – it’s the end of a three-year-long day,” said Robinson. “I took off and it felt light the whole way through until I hit bottom.”
PASTRANA TAKES FIRST-EVER RALLY CAR RACING GOLD AT X GAMES 12
Travis Pastrana and co-driver Christian Edstrom won the first-ever X Games Rally Car Racing gold medal from the debut final at The Home Depot Center. Pastrana edged out rally legend Colin McCrae after he rolled his car in the final turn of the race.
"It’s an honor to be next to Colin McCrae," said Pastrana. "I’m very surprised to have won the first X Games rally car event. No words can describe it. It’s been the best week of my life. I’m so happy that rally racing has a presence in the X Games."
PASTRANA WINS THIRD GOLD AT X GAMES 12, REPEATS AS MOTO X FREESTYLE WINNER
Travis Pastrana continued his dominance at X Games 12 with a gold medal on Saturday, and he only needed one run to do it. After aggravating an existing knee injury, Pastrana passed on his second run, and he and the crowd watched as silver medalist Adam Jones and bronze medalist Mike Mason took aim at his leading score.
Despite Pastrana only completing the first run, Jones and Mason had a tough act to compete with. The repeat gold medalist’s sole run included a backflip saran wrap, a backflip kiss of death, a one-handed backflip, and a one-handed backflip lazy boy.
The win moves Pastrana into ultra-elite action sports company, tying him with Andy Macdonald for the third most gold medals in X Games history, trailing just Dave Mirra (14) and Tony Hawk (10).
ROBINSON ROLLS IN THE FIRST X GAMES BMX FREESTYLE BIG AIR COMPETITION
Kevin Robinson soared to his second gold medal of X Games 12 with a victory in the first-ever BMX Freestyle Big Air competition at The Home Depot Center.
Robinson took the Big Air gold with a backflip tuck no-hander to no-handed flair.
"I’m psyched,"said Robinson after his medal-winning adventures on the mega-ramp. "That’s the biggest no-handed flair I’ve ever done in my life. I’m just glad I landed rubber-side down."
PASTRANA NAMED THE SATURN MOST OUTSTANDING ATHLETE OF X GAMES 12
Travis Pastrana, who competed in four events and won three gold medals at X Games 12, was named the Saturn Most Outstanding Athlete of the Games.
For earning the honor, Pastrana drives away with a new 2007 Saturn Sky Roadster.
