As the second day of the SCORE Baja 1000 began, Class 22 rider Steve Hengeveld captured his seventh career overall win in the legendary race. He crossed the finish line at 7:21 a.m. Pacific Time, with an hour and a half gap before the second-place motorcycle, which was the Red Bull KTM team.
Andy McMillin had some troubles early on, and the latest news from this afternoon is that the No. 31 Red Bull Chevy Trophy Truck was near the 1,081 mile mark at 8:15 p.m. with just under 300 miles to left Cabo, with his father, Scott, driving.
No reports yet on drift car champion Rhys Millen in the No. 8 Crystal Bay Casino Trophy Truck. He took over driving duties after Loreto.
The No. 41 Castrol Trophy Truck, which CORR driver Steve Barlow started in, was in third place around 2:00 p.m. Pacific Time, when they experienced some difficulties around 1,080 miles, but word is they got things running again and finished the race as 6th Trophy Truck and 19th overall.
