Every athlete experiences mental and physical strains that affect performance. Red Bull Energy Drink is specially developed to help athletes overcome those stresses and maintain the strength and focus needed for competition and training. For golf professionals, it’s critical. This brochure is designed to help familiarize players with the functionality of Red Bull and present results of a study done at the renowned Pelz Institute, in which lower scores were shot after drinking Red Bull Sugarfree.
Red Bull and Your Golf Game
Many studies have been conducted to understand thephysiological implications of Red Bull Energy Drink.
They have all indicated that Red Bull produces a
significant increase in both physical performance and
cognitive functions. The newest study, conducted
at the Pelz Institute, was done to find out how Red
Bull Sugarfree can benefit a golfer. According to the
Pelz test, players drinking Red Bull Sugarfree noted
enhanced energy and focus, enabling them to power
through the late stages of their game with greater power
and accuracy and, in the end, shoot lower scores.
How The Study Was Conducted
The Pelz Golf Institute is a widely respected name inthe world of golf, committed to staying on golf’s cutting
edge with information that simplifies the art of lowering
scores. They conducted a two-year study among 824
golfers to compare performance results of using Red Bull
Sugarfree versus water or a well-known caffeinated soft
drink. After the golfers were broken up into three
different groups (Red Bull Sugarfree, water, and diet
soda), they were put through four skills tests.
1) 10-yd. pitching station
2) 40-yd. distance wedge station
3) 6-ft. putting station
4) 45-ft. chipping station
They were tested over three days to measure performance
as fatigue and exhaustion became a factor. Throughout
the test, golfers were observed to ensure standard
consumption throughout the participant groups, and
all data was measured meticulously to analyze results
before, during, and after consumption. In each test, the
golfers performed three times: once for initial performance,
once after fatigue had set in, and once after their respective
drink was consumed and absorbed into their systems.
The Pelz Study and Red Bull Results
In all four of the test stations, the golfers drinkingRed Bull Sugarfree showed a higher relative change in
performance than either of the groups drinking water
or diet soda. After boiling down the data, the results
can be best expressed as follows: If a golfer consuming
Red Bull Sugarfree (one at the beginning of a round and
another halfway through) were to encounter 37 putts in
a round, the Red Bull drinker would sink one more of
those putts than a diet soda drinker. Since many golfers
encounter that many putts in a typical 18-hole round,
their score could be reduced by one stroke per round.
And that’s just when it comes to putting. The results
suggest that a similar advantage can be obtained when
driving and chipping, adding up to a total advantage of
up to three strokes per round, with a possible 12 strokes
over a typical four-day tournament.
Why Red Bull Works
Red Bull Energy Drink is composed of ingredients
that enable the body and mind to function at high
levels during mental and physical strain.
Two of the ingredients in Red Bull, Taurine and
Glucoronolactone, are present naturally in the body.
But during times of stress and strain, the body’s internal
reserves can be depleted. Red Bull helps replenish them.
A can of Red Bull also contains about as much caffeine
as a cup of coffee, which at that level, provides useful
stimulation, physically and mentally. These ingredients,
as well as the carbohydrates and vitamins in Red Bull
contribute to:
• Improving physical endurance.
• Helping to eliminate waste substances that can build up in the body.
• Increasing mental alertness.
• Improving concentration and reaction speed.

For Every Athlete
The results of the Pelz Golf Institute study come as no
surprise. An ever-increasing number of top athletes in
other sports are using Red Bull Energy Drink to help
overcome physical and mental strain during intense
athletic competition. It only makes sense that golfers
benefit from it as well. Since golf is not an exact science,
a specific advantage is hard to quantify. But, as the test
results have shown, the increase in concentration and
focus will certainly aid a player during his round.
Red Bull has been certified by NSF International, and
cleared by the United States Olympic Committee in
compliance with all World Anti-Doping Association
rules and regulations.
