Fueled by gasoline, adrenaline and Red Bull, our Moto X boys look to rev it up and land on the podium in a wide-array of competitions. From the high-flying acrobatics of Freestyle, to the power-sliding Rally racers...

Freestyle/Best Trick
If you know anything about these events, it’s that the impossible is always possible. Last year, Red Bull rider Travis Pastrana stunned the world by doing the unthinkable-a double back flip on his motorcycle. He even took home an ESPY for Best Male Action Sports Athlete last month in LA for his feat at last years X Games.

So what did that leave for this year?

UPDATE: HISTORY DOESN'T REPEAT
Well, somebody else TRIED a double backflip... but didn't show the same composure that Mr. 199 did in '06. Pastrana remains the only person ever to land one in competition. Mat Rebeaud was one of a slew of riders throwing some insane backflip combos (Indian-Air Underflip, Stripper-Backflip, Lookback-Kiss of Death-backflip). But, in the end, Mat was just off the podium in 4th place, and a trick that has been done before (Body Varial re-named The Volt) won the comp.

BTW... Although Travis didn't the Freestyle or Best Trick events at X -- you can see him do that on our Red Bull X Fighters tour!

UPDATE: NO PASTRANA, BUT SOME PROGRESSION
With the absence of Travis Pastrana, the field was wide open for the Gold. Adam Jones was the one taking advantage, bringing some progression with Stripper and Shaolin Backflips. He edged out an injured Nate Adams (broken finger from Red Bull X Fighters) in the final.

UPDATE: PASTRANA DQ'D IN FINAL, WRECKAGE ABOUNDS
When we wrote that this sport is like NASCAR meets Formula One meets a bottle of Moonshine - we shoud have thrown in demo derby too!

Both the cars and the course took a beating on Sunday, with: drivers finishing on bare tire rims (Ken Block), getting disqualified for smashing through barriers (Pastrana), or rolling a car ON TOP of barriers (Colin McRae).

In the end, Pastrana's DQ beat McRae's DNF for bronze and Dark Horse Tanner Foust took the win.

UPDATE: REN DOG BEATS TOMCAT
Ronnie Renner, the breakdancing fiend, didn't improve upon his World Record jump of 35 Feet, 6 inches (which he set on an episode of Stunt Junkies this season), he did win the Gold. Tommy Clowers was right there in second for the 1-2 Red Bull rider punch. Nothing like catapulting yourself straight-up on a 230 pound machine for X Glory... and laying down some "sweet" B-Boy moves in celebration...

Actually, Ronnie should really check out Red Bull's BC One breakdancing comp for some new ideas. But we give him credit for doing it in Moto gear. Congrats man!

UPDATE: WARDY LEADS -- BUT NOT LAST LAP
Red Bull's not-so-secret weapon in SuperMoto, Jeff Ward, led 30 and a half laps of the 32 of today's race. But, not when the checkered waved. Wardy yielded the lead on an un-charteristc mistake on the second to last lap. That meant he had to settle for silver. Red Bull's David Pingree, in his first X Games, was probably much more satisfied with his 3rd place finish. Congrats for getting on the podium guys.

UPDATE: PASTRANA IS HUMAN AFTER ALL
Before Travis Pastrana became THE superhero of FMX, he was an incredibly successful Motocross racer. But, it's been awhile since Travis had been racing on two wheels. After a fall in practice, he couldn't get thru to the final of Moto X Racing (neither could Mike or Jeff Alessi). As all expected, Ricky Carmichael just ran away with the gold.... but he did have one surprise in sotre for the crowd. That being he just may return to defend his title next year!
