All the action from the Canadian Faction of Red Bull. Wakefest goes huge in BC!
Wakefest 2007 wrapped up over the weekend with attendance records of 33,000 people on the Saturday and Red Bull was all over it. There apparently was a contest going down but all the buzz was around the VIP Party! Partnering with Oakley and Deviate to host the athlete/VIP party on Saturday night the place went off. The concept for this year party was something different. Instead of hosting the party in the Deviate shop, we took over a bowling alley and arranged for athletes sponsors to put together teams. The bowling tournament went down between team Red Bull, CWB, Mastercraft and Liquid Force. In the end, Liquid force took the $4000 cash purse with the RB boys in 3rd or 2nd to last depending on how you look at it?
The Red Bull team included, Brian Grubb who judged this year’s event, JD Webb, Adam Errington and Josh Sanders. In the end, we had to pull an alternate as Sanders couldn't get out of Florida, or maybe he was just to scared to bowl! Chad Sharpe took his spot to complete the team. We made up some bowling T's for the crew and despite finishing in 2nd to last, they were looking good. Big talk around the athlete tent this weekend included new team rider Adam Errington.
Adam has just recently signed to Red Bull and is being mentioned as the future of wakeboarding.... Despite the hype, Adam failed to stay on his feet during the contest attempting huge double ups in choppy water and as a result, never made it into the final.
Contest went down as well, here are the results!
Results:
1st- Phillip Soven
2nd- Trevor Hansen
3rd- Chad Sharpe/ Rusty Malinoski
