Freeskier Tanner Hall, 24, finished the Winter X Games with his third gold medal in the SuperPipe, not to mention shooting "the best footage ever" in his new skiing film ‘The Massive’ at the Donner Pass near Tahoe. We play finsh the sentence with him in this interview...
What I’m most proud of about my performance at Winter X Games XII is ...
… being really consistent. I went there, and on my very first day of practice I was really laying down my runs and didn’t screw up much on any of them. So, it was a really good feeling to be consistent and confident, knowing that when I started I’d lay my run down no matter what.
The best thing about winning Gold in the Superpipe contest was ...
… just having my family and friends there. Having Cali P [dancehall artist, who Tanner worked with during the shooting of ‘The Massive’] seeing what was going on. He lives in such a different world, and it was great for him to come over from Zurich and see how it’s done over here, and to have people see how he does his thing.
My success secret in connection with the X Games is ...
… just try to stay focused and get my stoke on. I’m the first one at practice and I’m the last one to leave.
I keep my seven X Games gold medals ...
… at my house in Park City and my parents’ house in Montana. I spread them around, you know. They’re just hanging up in my room.
What anybody who knows me says about me is ...
… maybe that I work too much, but I never think that. Everything I do is fun, so it’s all just good times.
My very next goal is ...
… to keep on going. Next year I want to go to the X Games and have another great year, and probably make another movie. I feel like I’ve got a good program going on, and I feel comfortable with how things are turning out. So we’re just going to try to carry on with the mission and keep skiing.
My final advice: Don’t miss ...
… my new skiing film, ‘The Massive,’ dropping next fall. Don’t even have a date for you yet. That’s top secret. But we’ve been filming like nuts (SEE SOME FOOTAGE HERE). We’ve got the best – and I’m not saying ‘some’ – but the BEST footage we’ve ever had in our lives. Expect to hear big things on the music side of it, too, and great things from a lot of new, younger up-and-coming backcountry slayers.
